After joking that he will finally start writing the script for The Avengers, Joss Whedon announces that today will be the first day of filming on the superhero team-up movie.

“Tomorrow we start shooting (I THINK I’m legally permitted to say that),” he wrote last night on Whedonesque. “Day one. That’s right. We’ll be shooting the pivotal death/betrayal/product placement/setting up the sequel/coming out scene, at the following address: … [Marvel Lawyers rush in, take Joss's keyboard, blowtorch a picture of his family like in Stormy Monday, drink his milkshake, leave the seat up, fluff his pillows, violently unfluff his pillows, leave]

“… Went too far. My bad. Anyhoo, it should be a fun day, followed by the eighty thousand other fun days it will take to finish this. I’ll be checking in from time to time, if there’s news or I crave attention (i.e. am awake) . None of it will be Avengers news — I have some very denty pillows to remind of that — but I may have tidbits.”

So after what seems like forever The Avengers is finally coming together. The Avengers will be filming, for the majority, in Albuquerque Studios in New Mexico as well as New York and Cleveland.

The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, and Mark Ruffalo. The movie Opens on May 4th 2012.

Smallville returns tonight to finish up the last six episodes of the entire series. I'm gonna try and go over the episode without giving too much away because if you like surprises as much as I do you'll want to find out for yourself.

Before Clark gets hit with a blast from the past he gets hit with a blast from himself? Yes. Tonight's episode revolved around the mirror box and the alternate universe where Clark was raised by Lionel Luthor. Some of you may be screaming "plot hole!" that's what I thought. Tune in tonight and I promise it wont be as big of a hole as you think, if there is any hole at all.

Connor Kent has a small mention as he is sent to be raised by good ole Mama Kent. And most importantly tonight's episode brings a blast from the past! (er, kind of, technically not the past but you'll understand what I mean)

Tune in tonight at 8 pm on the CW.

I'm just gonna start by saying it: I love Peter Jackson. While The Hobbit is literally filming "right now" (seriously as I'm typing and as you're reading they are filming) Peter Jackson gives us constant glimpses of the process of making The Hobbit. Jackson will be posting video blogs constantly throughout the 2-film project on his facebook page, we will be posting each blog as well. And we have the first of many blogs below.
Jackson gives us amazing looks at the set of Bag End, Small insights to Rivendell, and the set of the Misty Mountain Caves. He brings us in for a close look at the costume designing for the Dwarfs and gives us a quick peak of a variety of weapons. We also get to see the cast, like Martin Freeman (Bilbo), Ian McKellen (Gandalf) and Andy Serkis (Gollum) as they prepare for the first day of filming. And the ending makes me leap for joy as Freeman gives us a taste of whats to come, with a Bilbo Baggins voice-over. For just the first blog, I am already dying to see this movie. Those 10 minutes just make me want more! I Want More!!!

The Hobbit comes to theaters November 2012 and stars Cate Blanchett, Saoirse Ronan, Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood, Martin Freeman, David Tennant, Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee and Andy Serkis. The film is directed by Peter Jackson.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes has been hyped up for the last month of so after being announced that you movie will be releases months earlier than originally intended as well as the 5-second glimpse of the intellectual, mass-murdering monkey. Now today will stir the buzz even more.

The release of the first official trailer will leave some in aw at it's greatness. They will be talking of this being the amazing story of new and great things for the Apes franchise. I am hesitant to say I don't think I'm one of those people.

I haven't lost faith quite yet, but so far I'm not too impressed. While the quick scene of the terrorizing ape standing in a couple's bedroom staring at them, gave me chills, the rest of the trailer just made me think I was watching a sequel movie called I, Ape. Seriously all I could think was that I was watching a remake of I, Robot where the robots were wearing monkey suits. but I am not giving up hope yet. I will give it more time before I completely cast my vote.

But I will tell you that I'm still excited to see Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) fighting off super-intelligent apes as his first A-list movie after the Harry Potter series. So for the sake of Malfoy lets have those fingers crossed that WETA Digital is just monkeying around and that they didn't want the amazing perfection of their apes be released yet.

Our gracious friends, Screen Gems have released a second trailer for Priest.

The fast-paced, ravishing visual effects, and superbly written movie is an adaptation of the popular supernatural/gun fu Western manhwa (Korean comic) by Hyung Min-woo.

This Screen Gems thriller is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi ride, set in an alternate world – one ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. The story revolves around a legendary Warrior Priest from the last Vampire War who now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities ruled by the Church. When his niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires, Priest breaks his sacred vows to venture out on a quest to find her before they turn her into one of them. He is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend, a trigger-fingered young wasteland sheriff, and a former Warrior Priestess who possesses otherworldly fighting skills.

Directed by Scott Charles Stewart and written by Cory Goodman along with Min-Woo Hyung from the graphic novel series “Priest,”

Priest stars Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Lily Collins, Brad Dourif, Stephen Moyer and Christopher Plummer.

Priest opens in 3D on May 13.

Only days away from the teaser trailer, Fox gives us a 5 second peak of the recently retitled movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The "blink of an eye" trailer shows us a quick glance what the apes will look like at the power of WETA Digital's hands.

Just keep in mind WETA Digital is the same company that won an Oscar for their amazing visual effects in Avatar. I think it's easy to say Tim Burton will have nothing on the Rise of This Planet of Apes.

Directed by Rupert Wyatt, the prequel/reboot stars James Franco as Will, a scientist who, while testing a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, causes the rapid evolution of an ape test subject named Caesar (Andy Serkis). Andy Serkis, the same who amazingly played the role of Smeagle/Gollum in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

The film, which also stars Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Tom Felton, Tyler Labine and Brian Cox, opens on Aug. 5. Look for the first trailer to hit on Friday.
